Nickel Sulfamate is applied to a substrate using electrodeposition, which simply means that an electrical current is used to bond the plating material to an object. Engineers use this process because Nickel Sulfamate solutions produce a 99.9% pure Nickel deposit onto the metal surface. The Nickel surface coating provides lubricity, corrosion resistance, durability, and strength. It is also minimally stressed, perfect for parts that will be bent or flexed.
Nickel Sulfamate is primarily used as a barrier coating under hard chrome to create the ultimate wear and corrosion resistant coating.

We have been helping engineers find solutions to surface coating challenges for over 80 years.
The nickel sulfamate plating process is electrolytic, meaning that the surface finish is applied to a part through a chemical bath that is electrically charged. The process starts with parts being submerged into a nickel sulfamate solution. Once the parts are in this solution, a direct current is sent through, reducing the nickel ions to nickel metal at the surface of the part. The thickness of the nickel layer is dependent on the amount of time the part is plated for and the electrical current density used.
