Engineers looking for a hard surface coating that maintains the original component tolerances and will provide excellent corrosion resistance turn to Thin Dense Chrome or TDC. It has a dense structure that is void of micro-cracks which enhances the surfaces corrosion protection.
U.S. Chrome has used this coating for a wide variety of applications in every industry. What defines our electroplating services is the ability to offer the solutions that are needed for each application. Let our precision plating team engineer a solution for your application.
US Chrome is one of the few companies that has large chrome plating tanks that can accommodate up to 20 foot length and 8 tons.
Think U.S. Chrome
We have been helping engineers find solutions to surface coating challenges for over 80 years.
Thin Dense Chrome is electroplated chromium with a thickness generally 0.0001″ to 0.0002″ where the chromium structure is denser. This dense condition is created by using a specific bath chemistry combined with tailored application techniques. These carefully monitored parameters produce a uniform coating thickness while maintaining tight tolerances.
Most metal surfaces can be plated with TDC except for aluminum, magnesium, titanium and zinc. The coating is most frequently plated on stainless steel components.
Thin Dense Chrome offers a strong resistance to cracks, chips, peels, or flakes from the base material. The coating wears well and has an excellent resistance to corrosion from its dense structure that is void of micro-cracks.
TDC is a solution for a variety of applications. Primarily, since the coating will not crack, peel, chip, or flake, the use in food and medical applications are the most benefited. Applications that are subjected to harsh environments will also benefit due to the enhance corrosion resistance.
U.S. Chrome offers TDC plating at our Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Connecticut locations. Each facility is strategically located for fast and efficient delivery to anywhere in the United States and across the globe.
